Everything from the motorized blinds to the home theater are controlled with the touch of a button in this Sydney home that overlooks several golf courses and the ocean. —Jacky Wong
Property developer Joe Khouri spent two years building this house in Little Bay, a suburb southeast of Sydney. He purchased the land in 2007 and spent 6 million Australian dollars (US$6.2 million) on the plot and construction
The home was completed in 2010. It has panoramic views of several golf courses and the Pacific Ocean. Mr. Khouri lived in the house with his wife and daughter until they moved last year to another home he built on a larger parcel nearby
This three-inch-thick mahogany door opens onto the foyer with high ceilings and marble-covered floors. Ancient artifacts, including one that dates as far back as 3,000 B.C., according to Mr. Khouri, are stored in a case in the wall. An elevator connects the home's three levels.
The three-story house spans 6,350 square feet and includes amenities such as a gym, wine cellar and home theater with surround sound. 'You can feel the vibrations of the sound,' said Mr. Khouri of the theater. 'It is much better than any cinemas elsewhere.
Each of the four bedrooms have timber floors. Floor-to-ceiling windows can be found throughout.
The home's five bathrooms are outfitted with European fixtures and cabinets made of solid timber and polyurethane.
The house uses smart-home technologies that control everything from the lighting to the motorized blinds and air-conditioning. Remote touch-screen panels are installed throughout.
The garage uses a parking lift and can store up to four cars
Mr. Khouri said he designed the home for people who love 'coastal living.' The nearest beach is less than a five-minute walk away.
The house was listed in December 2012 for A$6.5 million (US$6.8 million) with agent Marshall Mullen of Echelon Estates.
